Utah State English Equestrian Team

about us

The English Equestrian Team at Utah State University is a non-profit organization ran by full time students of Utah State University.  The team is a competitive Hunt Seat team that participates under the IHSA, Inc., show association in Zone 8, Region 3.  The team practices weekly out of the Utah State University Equine Center in Wellsville, Utah.

The team's involvement with the IHSA, Inc. show association allows them to travel out of state each semester and compete against riders of other universities.

Additionally, the team hosts a schooling show each semester that is open to all Hunt Seat riders in the surrounding areas.  These shows help strengthen the bonds of the local equestrian communities and the individuals that participate within its dicipline.

Community service is a vital part of the English Equestrian Team.  Each semester, the team volunteers their time and efforts to the local community in order to give back to the area that the team calls home.  Service projects typically revolve around the needs of horses, but are not limited to just equines.

If you have a service project you would like the English Equestrian Team to participate in, please contact us.

try outs

try out information

The English Equestrian Team encourages riders of all skill levels to try out for the team.  A rider does not need to have an extensive show record in order to be considered.  A strong work ethic, a fun attitude, and a desire to become a better rider is what is most important.   Applicants must be full time Utah State University students in "Good Academic" status.

Try outs occur before the start of every Fall and Spring semester.  Announcements of try out requirements are made public at last one month before the start of the upcoming semester.  Please contact us with any questions you may have about this process.

  • A "Riding Resume" that includes your riding and competition history, as well as references to professionals that can attest to your abilities.
